NOVA Trial Selected for LINNC 2026 Trials Book Alongside Landmark BASIS Study

Paris, France, June 5, 2026 – Two clinical trials from SINOMED Neurovita, a subsidiary of SINOMED focused on neurovascular innovation, have been selected for inclusion in the LINNC 2026 Trials Book. The selected trials: BASIS and NOVA represent significant advances in the endovascular treatment of symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (sICAS).

BASIS – Balloon Angioplasty for Symptomatic Intracranial Artery Stenosis

The BASIS randomized trial evaluated balloon angioplasty combined with aggressive medical management versus medical management alone in patients with severe sICAS. Results demonstrated that balloon angioplasty plus aggressive medical therapy significantly reduced the risk of stroke and death compared to medical management alone, marking a pivotal step forward for endovascular treatment in this field.

NOVA – Intracranial Drug-Eluting Stent System vs. Bare-Metal Stents in Symptomatic High-Grade Intracranial Atherosclerotic Stenosis

The multicenter randomized NOVA trial evaluated the NOVA intracranial drug-eluting stent, the world’s first balloon-expandable DES specifically designed for ICAS, compared to bare-metal stents in patients with symptomatic high-grade intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis. Results demonstrated a significantly lower rate of in-stent restenosis and reduced stroke recurrence with the NOVA DES compared to bare-metal stents, supporting drug-eluting stents as a more effective treatment option for sICAS patients.

Selection by LINNC – the global reference for neurointerventional trials, reflects SINOMED Neurovita’s ongoing commitment to advancing the evidence base for ICAS and improving outcomes for stroke patients worldwide.

About Neuro RX® and Neuro LPS® Intracranial Balloon Dilation Catheter

The Neuro RX® and Neuro LPS® Intracranial Balloon Dilation Catheter (SINOMED Neurovita) are purpose-built intracranial balloons used in the BASIS trial. The Neuro RX® is the world’s first rapid-exchange intracranial balloon catheter (NMPA-approved, 2016); the Neuro LPS® is its next-generation upgrade and the world’s first low-pressure rapid-exchange intracranial balloon (NMPA-approved, 2020), featuring a 3 atm nominal pressure and ultra-soft Pebax balloon body designed to minimize vessel trauma.

About NOVA

NOVA is the world’s first drug-eluting stent and the first healing-targeted stent developed specifically for neurointerventional treatment of symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS).
