OCT Study Released at TCT 2013 (BuMA vs. EXCEL)

Date:2013-11-06

From 27th October to 1st November, 2013, Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference was held in San Francisco, CA. The 25th conference featured new cutting-edge educational content and new released data of various trials.

During this conference, SINOMED has released its recent OCT trial comparing BuMA to EXCEL conducted in China. This study aims to compare early neointimal formation between two biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stents. Patients were randomized into one of two DES groups (BuMA, n=40; EXCEL, n=40). The primary endpoint is the percentage of the struts neointimal coverage at 3 months assessed by OCT. Results showed significant differences between two groups (94.18% vs. 89.98%, BuMA vs. EXCEL, p<0.0001), favorable for BuMA. This is suspected to be contributed by BuMA’s unique eG coating technology. Large-scale trial is required to further confirm the real clinical difference.
